waited 1 week, called to confirm delivery and to investigate company procedure. product failed, sent product in for repair as requested w/provided case number (at my cost) $25.00. Received product as gift valued at $185.00. She told me that they could not rely on internet blogs or postings as a valid source of defect information and that it was just my tough luck I was going to have to pay since it was out of warranty. I told her the same thing that I did not feel that I should have to pay for a repair on an obviously defective model.

I only paid $120.00 for the tv to begin with. When the warranty representative called back she said it would be $90.00 to fix the tv and I would have to pay to ship it to them. He said there was nothing he could do except set me up for a callback. I told them that since there seemed to be a trend that these tvs were defective that I shouldn't have to pay. I called and talked to someone who said my tv was out of warranty and I could send it in to have it fixed. I read online that several people have had this same problem with this model (as well as other RCA model TVs) I sent an e-mail to RCA and got a response telling me to call their 1-800 line. Unplugging it does no good because once you plug it back in it starts up doing the same thing again. The thing just suddenly started turning itself on and cycling through the channel finder. I bought a model 14F512T RCA TV from Wal-mart roughly 2 years ago. RCA should be held accountable for making crappy equipment and not standing behind their products I will never purchase another RCA product! We are now left with no tv and can't afford to run buy another one. I think they know these are not quality TV's considering the crappy warranty. Had we known this we would not have purchased. Turns out this model is the number 1 returned TV at walmart. You would think that paying $1000 for a tv it would last longer than a year! Searching online for ideas as to what could be wrong with it, we found nothing except tons of complaints similar to ours about this model TV.

We called RCA this morning and was told they were sorry for our frustration but there was nothing they could do as it was out of warranty. We unplug it and it will come back on but only lasts for about 30 minutes, sometimes not even that long. It comes on for about 30 minutes then shuts off by itself. We purchased a RCA 52 HDTV Model #R52WH74 in November 2007 and 5 months after the warranty expired the TV is going out.
